Dec 05, 2020: Review of Vaanprasth Yagna, Its Website, Past Sessions
This meeting was to state the objective of Vaanprasth and past activities. Since most of the students were busy with exam and we wanted to maintain the routine of having this session on Saturday.

Rangnath Ji – Wanted to get a brief description to be sent to his contacts.
Shyam – Suggested to pay Stipend to volunteers, which I declined and offered to send him the NGO charter document for him to read.
Anupam + Shyam + Others: Why not start a youtube channel. I informed them that this was in plans.
Pranay – Offered to guide anyone interested in Aeronauticals.
Shiv – suggested all to register on the site and created sessions/ requests.

Work with Students: Need to improve pronunciation, vocabulary. Start practice early. Also on coursera website.

INK: Did you feel any racism in US/ Canada. Pritish - Universities are least racist. Outside is different – Big Stores are less racist, family owned businesses are a bit racist.
MPSharma: Toefl and GRE are small part of the effort. Forum for networking: can be a topic in itself.

Pushpam (PA to Najeerul)-- Scholarship is another vehicle + Paid one as well; Cost of Pvt college in Russia costs less. His org chooses 10 Indian Students as Govt Sponsored, 12th - 85% score; NMC recommendation is needed, Pvt College in Russia costs about 30 Lakhs for 4 years; Govt sponsored - 2 seats -- govt pays almost all.
Alok: Experience in Mech Engineer - 6 year course, Language course first, 4 years, then you can do Masters, Fees -- 3 tiers of Universities, cost varies -- $20K in large cities, $10K in Small Cities. Cold is extreme -- which creates issue for Indians.
Ramesh: Graduate from Moscow University, Working in Canada. You are ready on day-one after education. Their education is at par with western education.
Anupam: These days, education in English is also given. Russian language is a subject. All enclosed area is heated.
Sindhu: Study outside is lonely but good learning experience. Racism in Europe. More opportunities in Germany/ Italy. Apply for Grants from Universities, Internships enables you to get some money. Europe education is very practical.
Navneet: I have studied Maths in up to 10th and 11th -- What is common tests for study in Russia -- level of tests.

Career Counselling is very important, In India, it is not formal and students depend on parents, some colleges do provide limited counselling. Take counsellor help. Many students don't know about Merchant Navy. TS Rajendra entrance exam was combined with JEE in my time. 80% of goods are transported by merchant ships worldwide, employees are well paid of, get a chance to visit various countries. Life is tough. It is also called second line of defense. Officers work 6 to 8 months and sailors work for 9 -12 months at a stretch, Multinational crew is there. Story -- ship was crossing Suez Canal, how many nationalities - 7 nationalities, different working culture. It is seeing the recession now, in 80s, 2000 and 2008 -- were also recessionary. In such time, there are lay-offs, reduced payments, Tankers -- 200 to 250 meters length, limited food supply, medicine,
Brief History and Admission Process -- First Training Ship -- TS Duffering, then TS Rajendra [King Rajendra Chola] -- served 21 years. Now shore based institutions -- TS Chankya; For engineering -- Dte of Marine Engg -- Kolkata and Mumbai. Admission -- IMU CET exam after 12th grade -- PCM -- 60% and English - 50% min. Engg is optional. Some government colleges also admit based on JEE. Trainees are sent on-board after 1 year for 6 months for on-boarding training, then take competitive to become port engg.Deck side -- administrative officers. Hierarchy starts with 3 rd Offr....
